Teardrop Build

We’ve been bit by the teardrop bug!

As we begin this project, just a couple notes.  First, I’m not an experienced builder.  I’ve welded once in my life – stick welded a couple test welds in high school.  I’m not a woodworker.  If fact my primary job is in computer support.  The reason we are sharing how we built this trailer is so that others can be encouraged to try it.  I teach at a private Christian high school and have access to their shop.  Yes they have a few cool tools, like a PlasmaCam, that wouldn’t be found in normal garage, but most of what I’m doing can be accomplished with a chopsaw, welder, table saw, and router.

We are choosing to build our trailer a bit beefier than a standard teardrop trailer as we are planning on towing it behind our Jeep and may be taking in off road.  For this reason frame will be made out of steel tubing and wooden body will not extend below the steel.

I thought this was pretty funny. Hmm. Wonder what that says about me?!
